What happens when a group of friends – who happen to be successful and talented jam and blues rock musicians – got together and decided to re-examine the music of the band that is synonymous with the space- and arena-rock of the ’70s?
BLUE FLOYD happens.
Begins – their first CD release – captures luminaries Matt Abts, Marc Ford, Johnny Neal, Berry Oakley Jr and Allen Woody interpreting some of the most popular (and some more obscure) Pink Floyd songs. As a bonus, the guys are joined on the last two tracks by Slick Aguilar as they turn a couple of Beatles favorites upside down.
These recordings serve as both a testament to the staying power of these classic songs and a record of a fantastic moment in time when Blue Floyd was born.
In 2008, a new incarnation of Blue Floyd will be hitting the road (Allen Woody is sadly no longer with us) and recording a brand new album. Check out Begins now and catch ‘em on tour.
