Since his debut album Entrance in 1970, Edgar Winter has always been a musical visionary, mixing and synthesizing the rock, blues and jazz melodies he hears in his head. The younger brother of guitar legend Johnny Winter, Edgar has been a prolific artist and worldwide superstar.
From the mega hit “Frankenstein,” to the bluesy classic “Tobacco Road,” Winter has never been a follower, just a true leader. With his latest release Rebel Road, Edgar Winter manages to rock pretty righteously. Beginning with the title track “Rebel Road,” “Eye On You,” and the ultimate party hit “The Power Of Positive Drinking,” the band with the help of brother Johnny Winter moves into the excellent blues scorcher “Rockin’ The Blues,”
The album is painted with highlights from the substantial saxophone and keyboard talents of Winter, not to mention some of his finest singing recollects the best of his work with The Edgar Winter Group. Like the They Only Come Out At Night album, this recording includes a pair of haunting ballads, “The Closer I Get To You” and “Peace And Love.” “Do It Again,” along with “Horns of A Dilemma,” showcase Edgar Winter doing what he does best – rocking out with passion and lots of drums and guitar.
