“So what have we here? A vintage slice of Southside Johnny and fellow Jukes on the edge of 1979. From between somewhere in 1974 through the time of this show in late 1978, the Jukes recorded three albums for Epic Records (I Don’t Want To Go Home, This Time It’s For Real, and Hearts Of Stone). These albums placed Southside and The Jukes firmy on the Rock & Roll radar and brought together a collection of songs that have remained the foundation of the Jukes canon. The early albums include some choice cover tunes, but mainly feature the songwriting efforts of Miami Steve Van Zandt (at that time a Juke) with a little help from Bruce Springsteen and wonderful production and arrangements by Steve. The stunning and playful horn arrangements that were so intrinsic to the studio albums get a good airing out in the live setting on this disc…”
