THE VILEST PUNK ACT OF ALL-TIME was probably the Anti-Nowhere League. They managed to issue only a single full-length album during their “peak” period of the early ‘80s (1982’s We Are…the League); however, they did influence several subsequent punk acts, and received extra attention when Metallica covered their gross-out classic “So What” in the early ‘90s. “So What” will forever be the Anti-Nowhere League’s best track (included here as a live version), which is joined by such other similarly styled ditties as “I Hate People” and “We Are The League,” plus a punked-up cover of Ralph McTell’s “Streets of London.” Along with the Macc Lads, the Anti-Nowhere League were one of the most over the top and confrontational punk acts to hail out of the U.K. during the early ‘80s, and this disc proves it!
